Most septic tanks are  6" to 16" deep with a 20"x20" cap plug  tanks in north Ga. after 2000 should have a filter on the outlet that needs routine maintenance cleaned about every 2 years. tanks prior to 1980 mostly have slab style lid like side walk slab.
